With an interest broader than just serving your daily latte Seven Seeds is a self professed Specialty Coffee roaster. They sell numerous types of coffee here and it certainly has a flagship feel about it with beans growing on site, cupping classes and all things coffee going on.
The real deal here however and the focus of their roaring trade (Uni being back has been a massive boost to their bottom line) is the simple espresso family of drinks. My personal favourite (and often the undoing of a good cafe) is the Long Macchiato which has been unfailingly pleasing here. Smooth to the end without any overriding acidity.
One of the more interesting additions to Seven Seeds is the shiny new ‘Clover’ coffee machine which is essentially an elaborate piston-driven drip coffee brewer/french press sort of deal. It’s worth a shot but personally i’ll be sticking with the trusty espresso family of coffee. It will be interesting to see if it catches on in espresso- mad Melbourne.
The food is also excellent. I highly recommend the bircher muesli and the chocolate brioche.
